Turn baby turn!

We had an appointment on Thursday for another ultrasound to see if Raddish was turned head down yet. She, of course, is not. They referred me to a chiropractor and an accupuncturist to try to get her head down before labor starts. I went to the Lotus Center today and tried out moxibustion. I will say that she did move a lot after they did it but I think she's sideways now instead of head down. They gave me a few sticks of moxa to do the procedure at home so hopefully she'll get with it and turn before Monday when we have another ultrasound.
Other than that she is perfectly healthy. She's about 7 pounds and her foot is 7.5 cm long. She wouldn't get her hands out of her face so we didn't get any good pictures but we'll see her soon enough! Only one more week until her due date!!!!

Practice Labor

Raddish decided she was going to have a little fun early Monday morning. I was having some pretty serious labor-like pains from about 3am until around 5am. I didn't get any sleep and felt generally crappy all day Monday. The whole time I was thinking about all the things we still need to do. The main one being to get this child a NAME!! I did end up finishing her blanket on Monday while I was resting up and taking it easy so that's one good thing.

Oliver had his first dentist appointment yesterday, too. He did really well listening to the hygienist and doing what she asked. He only got upset at the very end when she put the fluoride on his teeth. We'd been there almost an hour and a half at that point so I know he was getting restless sitting in that chair and it's no fun to have someone smearing your teeth with pasty stuff. Anyway, he was great and he got a bag of treats when he was done. (a crayon toothbrush, toothpaste, two stickers, an airplane and some little flossing sticks). I'm very proud of him!!

Beach boys!!

Gramma and Grampa Freeman took the boys and me to their new condo at the beach over the weekend of May 6th. What a fun time!! We hung out at the beach and found LOTS of wildlife. Grampa caught a clam, a conch, and three hermit crabs. We tried to catch a regular crab but he was too quick. We also built a sand castle and a racetrack for the little trucks they had brought. Friday night we went to see the dragon show at Broadway at the Beach but it was too windy so we just shopped and walked around. We spent some time at the pool, too. The boys really like playing in the water even though they still have to wear their life jackets when they go in. Oliver was very fearless and wanted to just go out into the deep deep ocean to swim and jump over waves. Of course, I was too nervous to let him get out very far but I think he had a good time anyway. Here are a few pictures from the trip...

May 15th...

I had another doctors appointment yesterday. Raddish is diagonal again so if she's still diagonal next week when I go back we'll have to do another ultrasound. Other than that she's healthy. My legs are swelling like crazy - especially the left one. It makes it really hard to walk sometimes.

Today is my birthday and to celebrate we're going to see the new Avengers movie. It will be Wyatt's first movie theater experience so I'm a little nervous that he won't be able to sit still for two and a half hours but we're going to try! The boys came in and woke me up with sweet birthday songs and pictures. It was a nice way to start the day.

Yesterday...

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and Raddish is finally head down!! She's still doing fine - heartbeat is good, movement is good, blood pressure is good. I'm swelling like crazy now, though. By noon my legs are pretty big and if I work I come home with cankles. The midwife also said that I'm dilated 2 cm so I suppose Raddish could come anytime.

I finally packed most of the hospital bag and went through all Raddish's clothes and things. We're going to work on getting her room really ready tonight and then it's just waiting. I'm still hoping for the 17th.

Oliverisms...

also from 2009

Oliver says

Huggiss

mooch (instead of smooch)

Quiet instead of Wyatt

Balg Eagle (when we read Panda Bear, Panda Bear what do you see? - I am hoping to video record this at some point because he's so funny with this book!)

Things I love about my boys:

found this in my drafts from 2009...

Oliver:

He wakes up and snuggles me, says good morning, tells me things. The morning is a good time for him.

He still likes hugs and 'mooches even though he's almost 3

He wants to know about everything and sometimes if he doesn't know he'll make something up.

He remembers everything and tells me about it later.

He waits up for me when I work late

He can spend hours playing with legos

He's so ticklish.

Wyatt:

He's always happy.

He gets so proud of himself when he learns something new.

He's so strong!

When he's asleep he likes to be right next to me.

He doesn't need to be rocked to sleep - he just likes being held.

His smile is so sweet and he uses it so often.

I wish I had posted more

We found out about baby #2 back in October and I've been very slack about updating to keep track of her. She gave me terrible morning sickness the first trimester but not as bad as Oliver. She also gave me heartburn but again, not as bad as Oliver. She's been right on track for growth and always measured right for her due date of June 8th. She's healthy and hasn't had any problems. Even though she's still not turned head down I'm not worried. I have had to test my sugar with this pregnancy but only because I didn't take the glucose test this time. The boys are very excited and have named this baby Raddish Bottompocket. Oliver said we can call her Raddish because she will like raddishes.

Beach Wyatt

This is, somehow, the only picture I got of Wyatt at the beach. I guess because once he woke up we went down and jumped in the water. I didn't really worry too much about pictures, more about having fun. Poor little fellow fell asleep just as soon as we got there. Pappy put his hat over his head so he wouldn't get too much sun and I covered the rest of him with Bob's shirt. He slept for almost two hours!

Oliver the ocean boy...

Oliver absolutely did NOT want to get out of the water the entire time we were at the beach. If he'd had his choice he would have stayed in this little ocean pool all day and night. He was very brave - he went into the big waves for a while. Daddy was close by, of course. He was very excited about his life jacket. It had a rocket and an astronaught on it. He didn't wear it the whole time because sometimes he just liked to free-float. If we lived closer to the ocean Oliver would be a tan little surfer boy.

This is the sand bar between the waves and the pool.

Lagging...

Obviously I have no time for anything since I haven't posted an update since mid-May. I'm sure I've been doing something but I can't really remember what.

I've been working on some crochet projects. I finally finished the blanket for Wyatt so I started another one for Bob's and my bed. This one will take a LONG time since it involves making 100 7X7 squares and then sewing them together. It's going to be pretty, though. I also made a few Peep bunnies for Easter and some dishcloths and other random stuff.

Oliver and Wyatt have been doing a little bit of school here and there. We're looking at putting Oliver in pre-K this year so we're "getting him ready" for that. I guess the thing I'm most worried about is making him sit still for hours at a time. Oliver is reading more and more. We really need to work on math skills but I just don't know where to start. Wyatt learned all the letters and their sounds so we moved on to reading simple words. He can read -op, -all, -at, -am, -an words as well as a few other ones on the "sight words" flash cards I got for Oliver. I'm sure if I wrote them out it would be a very long list. Not bad for a not-quite-three-year-old.

We went on vacation to Topsail Island the week before 4th of July. We were at the usual house but we went to a different spot on the beach where there was a sandbar that created a pool at low tide. The boys really enjoyed that pool! There were deeper spots where Oliver could float and the more shallow spots were perfect for splashing or scooting along on a boogie board. The boys really enjoyed playing with their cousins and are constantly asking when they'll see them again. In the evenings we hung out at the house with the family and were entertained by the antics of the children. Nanny got glow sticks and that was just fuel for the fire. Bob and I got a little date but discovered that our special restaurant had closed. We were disappointed but the place we ate was pretty good. I guess we don't have a reason to go to Wilmington next time we're at the beach. We'll have to find a closer spot to have our date. Overall it was a REALLY good time.

This past week we were all sick. Wyatt picked up something on vacation and brought it home for all of us to enjoy. It took us about a week to finally get rid of it but we're all fine now. I'm glad because as much as I don't like being sick, I like even less for the boys to be sick.

I can't remember anything really happening other than those things. I'll try to update more often so I don't forget any more stuff.

in the end...

there were still some eggs that couldn't be found. At least, we think there were.

They searched...

high and low. Sometimes they didn't know where to look. Sometimes they were so close they could have touched it and still didn't see it.

The Easter(n) egg hunt

The boys still call it Eastern instead of Easter...thus the "n" in the title. Once they got the go ahead they were off and there was no stopping them. They were grabbing eggs left and right!!

enjoying Easter breakfast!

Including Easter bread, monkey bread, marshmallow animals in coco cripsy treat nests, strawberries, and cookies. They really enjoyed it...and so did I!!!
