My shirts...

These are the two shirts I made for myself to match two of the ones I made for Oliver. I think they turned out pretty well.

Straight From China...

Uncle Dave got this very cool outfit for Oliver when he was in China. It's made from 100% silk. How does he know this? The Lady who sold it to him said that if you hold silk up to a flame it will not burn! Very interesting! I absolutely love this outfit, I can't wait until he's big enough to wear it.
Here is a close up of the detailing on the shirt. It's a SCARY DRAGON!

he did it!!!

Oliver has just become motivated to explore his surroundings from a new perspective! He was playing in his crib while I got dressed and ready for the day when he grabbed the railing and PULLED HIMSELF UP!!!!!!! My little man is so big!

**added later - Jenn - yeah, he was giggling and looking very proud! Of course I was all "you did it hooooorraaaaay! what a big man you are!" and clapping my hands like a crazy person. This of course made him even more excited than he already was. Also, I only threw up twice the whole time I was pregnant. I just couldn't eat anything except VERY soggy chex for a month and a half. I lost 19 pounds between Feb and March

no ear infection...

My motherly paranoia took over today and I called the Dr's office because Oliver keeps grabbing his left ear. I know I know - this is something they do when they're teething - but he was doing it a lot and crying. Anyway we went down and they checked him out and he's fine! Just teething!

Speaking of teething, I can't chew! I think I bit my gums between my right wisdom teeth and it's all swollen and hurts like the dickens. I can't close my jaw all the way so I have to eat all soft food so I can mush it up with my tongue instead of my teeth. This sucks! Only 1.5 weeks until those stinkers get pulled, though.

I had so much dye left over from Olivers shirts that I went out today and got some white t-shirts for me. I'm going to dye them tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to take pictures afterward.

Ta daaaaaa!

Here is the finished product frtom the "bucket project" For some reason I thought it would be fun to tie dye some onsies for Oliver. It turns out though that the only fun part is taking the rubber basnds off when you're done. Go figure. The rest of it was 30 minutes to mix the dye, 30 minutes to put the rubber bands on, 30 minutes of continuously stirring the shirts in the dye, 30 minutes of rinsing and re-rubber banding, 30 more minutes of continuously stirring the shirts in the dye, and then about 20 minutes or so of taking all the rubber bands off. Although I think they turned out really cool this is not a project I'll be doing again any time soon! I like how they all turned out completely different colors! I only had the three dyes, scarlet, teal and sunshine orange. Interesting tidbit, if you dye it orange and then teal it turns the color of this first one. I thought the teal would still be teal even over orange. I think I must have flunked art class!

How I spent my first official Mother's Day...

Part of the day was spent painting the first coat in the dining room. Great color, don't you think?!?! It makes a huge difference in how the room looks. I can't remember if this happened before or after we went shopping. We went to Garden Ridge to find some stuff that I need/want - although I was given a little bit of money to spend I only ended up spending $10. I got some flowers, some tomato seeds, and a cute little turtle garden ornament. We went to Home Depot, too, to get the buckets in the last picture. After we went shopping we went to Mi Pueblo - my absolutely FAVORITE restaurant. Oliver wasn't terribly well behaved while we were there so we didn't stay long. All the waiters loved him, as usual! After we got home we hung out for a while and then I started on my other project. The one that involves the buckets in the last picture here. I won't tell you what I did, but I'm very excited to see the finished product!!

Anyone need a ride?

Oliver emptied all the toys out of his living room toy box so I put him in it. He had lots of fun pretending it was a car. We "drove" all over the living room.

We even went in reverse!

dining room...

One of our projects this weekend was to start getting the dining room in order. Here are a few "before" pictures...

And here's and "after" shot. We did a coat of primer and it already looks a lot better. Bob thinks we'll have to do 2 coats of primer. I was really looking forward to starting color tomorrow, but I guess I can wait one more day.

A whale of a time!

We got Oliver a little pool for his 8 month birthday. It's shaped like a whale and water sprays out of the spout. It's just big enough for me and Oliver to fit in it together. He really liked "dibbling his tootsies" and sitting and splashing, but he didn't really like when I layed him down.

He definatly did not like the water on his head - although he kicked his feet and made lots of splashes! This was the first warm day we've had to use it so we filled it up and went out for a day in the sun.

The water was still a bit chilly so we didn't stay in very long but we had a good time anyway!

You didn't believe me? Well here's proof!

He gets grumpy! He cries! He's unhappy sometimes! Um, no, I wasn't just sitting there snapping pictures while he cried either. He'd fuss for a minute while I took the picture then I'd give him a toy or snuggle him and he was ok. He was actually quite good today and hardly fussed at all. This was just before one of his naps. He's cute even when he's grumpy.

He said it!!!

Oliver has been making lots of sounds, but never "babbling" as defined by the books. Today though he said "mamamamama" and "bababababa"!!!! He's been saying it all day! HOOOOOOORAAAAAY!!!

funny funny!!

This is absolutely hilarious! My favorite is the one with the elephant. Check it out:

I'm off work today and so far all I've done is play with Oliver and load the dishwasher. Yeah, I'm a lazy bum, I know! Yesterday Oliver was cranky all day and we didn't get anything at all done. I had to work, and when I got home he was still a little cranky. I fed him, gave him a bath, and then tried to rock him to sleep. He was having none of it and just wanted to play. Finally after about an hour (this was at 11) he finally dropped off so I rocked him for a few more minutes and put him in his bed at 11:30. He slept really well for about 2 hours - when he woke up. Needless to say I brought him to our bed, fed him and put him back to sleep. Two hours later I wake up to a "smell" Oliver has wiggled around so his butt was in my face and he had a huge poop diaper! GROOOOOSSSS!!! He was still asleep and I debated changing the diaper or letting him go until he woke up. After a few minutes of not being able to go back to sleep because of the smell I changed the diaper. He didn't wake up the whole time, but I ended up getting poo on the bed. What a mess! At least it was solid poo and I just picked it up with some wipes and cleaned the sheets off. It didn't even leave a mark. (this was at 2:45) Then I went back to sleep just after 3 and we slept until almost 8 when Oliver woke up hungry again. I swear this boy has the biggest stomach ever...either that or very high metabolism! I fed him again, but he just wanted to play and so we were up for about an hour before he finally fell asleep again. I'm exhausted!!!

Our plans for this weekend got cancelled so we're not sure what we're doing yet. My sister asked if we wanted to go up there for a Mother's day festival - I'm pretty sure we will be going. I guess Saturday we'll use to do some things around the house. Our next big project is painting the dining room, which will actually be used for a play room until we can get the table we want. I can't wait to see it finished! It's going to be blue. How much fun is that!?
