Daddy's boots

Oliver loves Daddy's boots. He likes playing with them, and in them! Doesn't he look just adorable?

He still hasn't gotten his top teeth, but his gums are so swollen. It should be any day now! I can't imagine that he could be any cuter than he already is but we'll see. He's still a grouch and doesn't go to sleep easily. He's only napped for 30 minutes at a time today. Last night he didn't go to sleep until 1!!! Poor Mommy and Daddy were up taking turns rocking him and trying to calm him down. He hasn't been tooooo grumpy today, though.

Here's a picture of Oliver (NOT Oli - we definately do not call him that. If he wants to be called Oli when he's old enough to decide then that's fine, but until then we call him by his whole name) playing in his bed. He played for a good while before getting bored and screaming his head off. I have a whole sequence of pictures that look almost exactly like this. Nice, huh?

Happy 8 month birthday, Oliver!!

Today Oliver is 8 months old...2/3 of a year!! Time is flying by so quickly. It seems like not very long ago that I was writing the happy 7 month post. He's done a lot since then, but it still seems so quick! I know he's definately taller than he was, and probably weighs more, too. He laughs at everything.

Exploring is his new favorite hobby, which sometimes leads to pulling himself up to grab onto things. Playing on the outside of the exersaucer is fun - he gets to stand by himself and sometimes even inches his way around to get to a different toy. He's still very close to crawling - he hasn't quite figured it out yet. He can feed himself finger foods, and yesterday we tried Stage 3 sweet potatoes. (there was no difference as far as I could tell) He's such a grump because of his top teeth coming in, but hopefully soon that will pass.
He's so much more expressive than he used to be. He babbles and talks all the time - using lots of different sounds. I'm excited for him to start using real words, but we're in no rush! Sitting up is a breeze, he can even catch himself when he looses his balance. When he does fall he doesn't cry - he just keeps on playing. Rolling is noooo problem, he rolls all over from one end of the room to the other. He's a happy healthy little guy and I can't imagine having a better baby.

Happy 3 year birthday, Jasper!

Today Jasper turns 3! He's very excited, can't you tell? Hopefully he'll be able to get groomed today so he can be all clean and shiny on his birthday. We also have a suprise for him, but I'll post pictures once we give it to him. I can't believe he's 3 years old! What a big puppy - and still as handsome as ever!

recent craft project...

This is what I painted last time I went to the paint your own pottery studio. I really like the way it turned out! The colors are the same as the colors of Oliver's room, although reversed. His walls are yellow and the trim is green. Pretty nifty, huh?

Oliver likes his blocks...

Here he is with the red one. It jingles when you move it. He likes to beat it like a drum. Below he's playing with another one in the set. What color is it Oliver? Wow, he knows it in 3 languages!!!

Anyway, I finished the kitchen and now my whole house is CLEEEEEEAN! No more C.H.A.O.S. here! (C.H.A.O.S. = Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) In fact, we had people over last night. Kyle and Cindy came over and hung out and had cheesecake after we ate at Tex and Shirley's. Bob and Kyle were going to go see Spiderman, but it was sold out! Not really suprising considering that it came out yesterday and everyone and their brother wanted to see it - and it was Friday night, too. Maybe they can go see it next week. Cindy and I were going to decorate some onsies for Oliver. I'm not saying how, you'll just have to wait and see. I'm not sure when I/we will be able to do it now but it's still on my to do list.

I finished the dishes and kitchen today. Vacuumed yesterday...now all I have to do is one or two loads of laundry and the whole house will be clean! I love having a clean house. Bob was very suprised when he got home yesterday and there were no clothes/shoes/toys laying on the floor/sofa/loveseat/chair. I think he also like being able to see the floor in the bedroom and bathroom. :)

Oliver is taking a nap, poor little grumpy boy. His top teeth are really bothering him. He keeps rubbing them with anything he can get his hands on. The teeth haven't actually broken through yet, but the gums are swollen. I gave him some teething meds and he went right to sleep. Poor baby. :(

After all our nice weather lately it was chilly yesterday - I turned the air off and opened the windows but then had to close them after about an hour because it was too cold. Then today it's cold and rainy. Good thing I didn't pack up all Oliver's pants...I almost did. Oh well at least the grass and flowers are getting watered.

I hear Oliver waking up but I wonder if I leave him for a minute will he go back to sleep. He was so tired. I guess not.

I don't know...

there was something I wanted to post but I can't remember what it was.

Bob has about 10 or 12 calls today so he's been gone since about 8 and won't be home for another few hours. What a bummer!

I cleaned up my bathroom and the bedroom today. It looks spiffy now. No more clothes on the floor and trash everywhere. I also did all of Oliver's laundry. Yay me! Now all I have to do is finish our laundry and clean up the kitchen. I'd also like to vacuum. Oh yeah, I also straightened up the living room.

I remembered what it was - Bob moved Oliver's Exersaucer to the next height level! He's getting so big!!!

May 15th "gas out"

I got an email proprosing that I not buy any gas on May 15th. If you got this email, too, then check out this link to see why it doesn't work and is actually a bad idea. You have to scroll down a little way (past the emails that were sent in multiple years) to get to the information.

I haven't posted pictures in a while so I went a little overboard...

did you watch..?

Heroes came on last night. I was sooo excited. I got home about 20 minutes into it - luckily Bob taped it so I was able to watch it again. I was disappointed that Matt became a "bad guy" and where did they find the Haitian? When Nathan revealed himself as Sylar I wasn't suprised - he had said something earlier in the episode that kind of gave it away. Besides, Nathan wasn't "bad" he was doing what he thought he had to do. Bob brought this up - how does Peter have a scar if he can regenerate? How is killing Sylar going to prevent the bomb in NYC? Even if Hiro does manage to kill Sylar (next week - can't wait!!) he wasn't the bomb like everyone thought in "future world", Peter was. I think maybe NY will still blow up...remember what Isaac said right before he died...you can't change the future. Besides, if they kill Sylar who will be the bad guy next season?!?!?

by the way, I took the "abilities quiz" and here's the results:

OK, I thought this would show the actual results. When I finished the little book thingy said:

You are like Matt Parkman. Thinking is an electrochemical process generating waves of energy. Like an antennae you are attuned to the thought patterns that hover in space all around us.

Oh yeah, I haven't taken any pictures of Oliver in the last few days. Maybe I'll take some today and post them. Been busy busy busy.

nothing new, really

Nothing new has happened in the last few days. Bob mowed the yard. I worked every day. Oliver's been sleeping in his bed. Bob and Oliver went to Raleigh today to visit Nanny and Pappy and Pappy Lucian and Mammaw. They got to see the new boat - I'm very excited about seeing it/riding in it, hopefully very soon.

Bob got Oliver some more puff things, this time sweet potato flavor. He eats them up! Which gets me thinking - when do I switch from stage 2 foods to stage 3? Anyone know?!?!?! I also have been giving him a few very little pieces of banana. He likes that too. I guess if he can chew then he can go to stage 3, right? I'm so confused!

I just finished eating Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cup ice cream. Yummy!

Oh yeah, I just started my first period since Oliver was born...nearly 8 months later!

he can feed himself!

Look! he;s holding it in his thumb and finger!

He got it to his mouth too. He's getting very good at grabbing the little banana puff things and feeding himself.

it's gone!

I went to look for breathable crib bumpers at USA Baby, but it was gone! It looked like it had been gone for a while. The last time we went there was when we were crib shopping and they were not very nice to us so we hadn't been back. Maybe that's why they went out of business. So instead we went to the new Dollar Tree that was right there. It was HUGE. They had EVERYTHING! I got a picture frame, a onsie, and some snack bowls with lids for Oliver. It was neat because they had all kinds of cute shirts and stuff for kids. No clothespins though. I can't find those anywhere. After we left there we went to Hamrick's since it's right there but their infant department is very pathetic. They only had a few outfits and nothing that I'd really put Oliver in. Oh well. We were out for a few hours so that was a few less hours to hang out all alone at the house.

Bob got up at 5 to get ready to leave for Atlanta. He got there around 11:30. I guess everything went well, I will see tonight when he calls me from the hotel.

teething...I think so!!

I'm pretty sure that Oliver is getting his top teeth in VERY soon. We've been using this (thanks Birch and Gretchen) and these (Thanks Uncle Hedgehog) and today I gave him one of these. I'm not sure if they are "developmentally appropriate" for him but he actually did very well with it. The video has no sound because I did it with the camera, not the video camera. In fact, that's why none of my videos have sounds. Sorry.
Anyway, he skipped his morning nap again today. I guess he's grown out of it. It's sad though because that meant that I could sleep in a little bit. He sleeps very well though - he was in his bed from about 10:30 until 5:30. He woke up about 5 and was playing (not very quietly) and having a good time. After about 30 minutes he got frustrated and started fussing so I went and got him. He slept in the bed with us until 8. Not too bad but I was still tired.

update, please!

It's been a busy weekend so I haven't really had a chance to post. Bob put in the new ductwork and whatever in the bathroom today. I took a much needed nap. I actually vacuumed the living room and did 4 loads of laundry before I took a nap, but the nap was the best part of the day.

Oliver has been very grumpy lately! He cries and cries when he doesn't want to go to sleep. He get so tired - it's really cute when he rubs his eyes. When it comes time to actually go to sleep he screams and squirms until he's exhausted. Today after about an hour of him screaming and crying I finally got him to sleep. 15 minutes later a firetruck or something drove by with sirens blaring and woke the poor guy up. Nothing I did could make him go back to sleep. He was fine for the rest of the afternoon - not too grumpy or anything - so maybe he didn't really need that extra hour of sleep? I think he did, but we'll see tomorrow.

I'm off work for the next three days! Bob has to go to Atlanta to get his van inspected and pick up the new GPS's that they are giving all the techs. Fun fun! I'll be home all alone for a few days. I'm not sure what I'll be doing during that time, but hopefully it will pass pretty quickly.
